Rehearsal Dinner Midtown South

Hello foodies -

I'm researching options for my brother's wedding rehearsal dinner. Needs to accommodate 20-40 people and be as close to 29th & Fifth Avenue as possible. Private room would be great but not mandatory. Food has to be honest but we're not looking at top tier fine dining. Any thoughts? He and his bride like French but that's not mandatory either, just nothing so exotic that it won't please the palates of various out-of-town guests. Thanks, as always, savvy chowhounders!

ETA: oops, i read through the OP too quickly - the part about their preference for French didn't quite register! but i still think ilili is a great non-French option.

Just wondering where you ended up choosing for your rehearsal dinner, as I am looking for something very similar (ok, exactly the same, down to # of people) to what you describe. Thanks in advance!!!

in case EGT doesn't get back to you, s/he commented in the following thread about having thrown a private party at Olana, so i suspect that was it...
