Al fresco dining Darien/Stamford?

Vbr05 Jun 22, 2009 10:12 AM

Hi Chowhounds,

I am meeting a friend after work this week, and, if the weather is nice, we'd love to go somewhere in the Darien/Stamford area -possibly Greenwich - to sit outside and have a glass of wine. Can you recommend any nice places with a patio? Crabshell springs to mind, but I'd prefer something quieter and more conducive to a one-on-one conversation.

Thanks very much,

Weather permitting, 1020 Post (that's the resto name and address, BTW) has an outside patio in back. Not much in the way of views (parking lot), but good fod, and that's about it for quality Darien outdoor dining.

There are a number of places on Bedofrd St in Stamford with outside dining...Cappricio and the little French place across the street come to mind.

Terra on Greenwich Ave in Greenwich has a nice patio. They aren't cheap, and their food can range from very, very good to average. But I like the place generally and it's a lovely setting with nice weather.

I second 1020 for the wine, top notch food and quieter patio setting. Right next door is Ole Mole which also has outdoor seating.

Saltwater Grille would fit your need perfectly. Best patio and nicest view in town, decent wine list. Raw bar and pretty good apps too if you get hungry.

            What about Rowayton Seafood?

For a European feel, either Eos or Dragonfly on Summer St. are nice. Eos has some delicious small plates ( mezethes): that work very nicely with a glass of vino and conversation with a friend.

A nice Greenwich option is L'escale on Steamboat Road. It's inside the Hotel Delamar.
