outdoor bar in BK heights/waterfront?

Hello!

I'm planning to propose to my girlfriend near the BK Bridge/BK Heights promenade later this week. Are there any outdoor bars/indoor bars nearby that I can have her meet me at, as to not make a meeting under the bk bridge blatantly obvious?

Thanks!

    Congratulations!

You couldn't find a more perfect, romantic, elegant place to propose than the Bar at THE RIVER CAFE.

There have been more engagements there than any other place I know. The management is very "engagement friendly" and will do whatever they can to make your engagement a delight.

I know they have helped hide engagement rings in flowers, cocktails, etc.

So romantic, I wish we could do it all over again.

So, put on a suit and tie, (required attire) and go for it. It will be one of the most memorable events of your life together.

Just a minor correction. River Cafe's website says:

"Jackets are required for Gentlemen in the main dining room."

Ties aren't mentioned. The main bar is in the dining room.

You don't get engaged every day. Why not do it right? Put on a sport coat and take her for drinks at the River Cafe? Yes, it's inside but given the horrible weather we've been having for the last month that's a plus.

        Bob,

They do still have the outdoor patio area where you can have drinks as well, don't they?

There is an outside bar It's pretty small now. They used to have a much larger outdoor area but they enclosed it to create an auxiliary bar. It doesn't have the atmosphere of the main bar but men don't have to wear a sportcoat.

A few years back I got stuck there one night when I forgot my coat. The view was nice but it felt isolated. I couldn't help thinking of it as a type of Loser's Lounge. I went back about 6 months later with my coat and got to sit at the main bar. It's much nicer.

Well, not quite next to it, but there is an outdoor patio as part of the River Cafe, where you can have drinks. You can see it from the pier area where the Ice Cream Factory is.

last summer there was a bar/patio thing set up next to the ice cream factory--catering by the Rice people. Not sure if it is set up again this year, but it was a great spot.

Yes, there is a covered area w/ tables and chairs behind the ice cream factory that serves Mexican snacky food (like quesadillas). Not sure if they have alcohol.

Yes, it was part of the Brooklyn Bridge Park/pier project thing. Picnic tables, sandboxes, etc. It was a Rice outpost. I haven't been down there yet this year so don't know if it's the same or not.
