5 Ingredient Fix with Claire Robinson

I just found this show a couple of weeks ago and have enjoyed watching it. She's not gimmicky so she's easy to watch. Here's what she covered on this morning's episode:

Anyone else liking this one? I think the 5-ingredient approach is smart and also get a kick out of the outtakes at the end of the show--it reminds me of Rick Steves and how he ends his travel shows).

I haven't seen this show, but I checked out your link, and the premise reminds me of Rozanne Gold's 1-2-3 cookbooks (Recipes 1-2-3, Healthy 1-2-3, Entertaining 1-2-3, etc.), where the recipes all have only 3 ingredients (plus water, salt, pepper). They are not necessarily uncomplicated, though, as sometimes the ingredients would be used two or three different ways within each recipe. Just think how much expanding the list to 5 ingredients changes the parameters! I have made a couple of Gold's recipes that are quite good, and even better when one or two flavor-enhancing ingredients are added, as Val did with her chicken (ex., chicken breasts with roasted grapes and grape sauce, duck breasts with pomagranate molasses).

Oh never watched it but really...it's not that hard to cook things with 5 ingredients, in fact, many recipes have 5 ingredients or less. Unless she's counting pantry ingredients as part of the five ingredients which is then ridiculous.

I haven't watched this yet...I did look at some of her recipes...the Buttermilk Pecan chicken looks good IF you add some seasonings, like hot sauce/garlic, to the buttermilk soak. I might try that this week!

I will check that out--she was probably just trying to keep the list to 5 ingredients! ;) Please post back if you do try it.

LOL...trying it tonight...chicken is soaking now in buttermilk which I jazzed up with crushed up fresh garlic and some hot sauce...will definitely report back later.

Very good...well, I didn't fry the chicken...I oven-baked it on foil sprayed with olive oil but I still like the flavor very much...pretty sure I'd do it again!

I like doing chicken that way, too (my mom also makes eggplant similarly). I will have to try this and check out Claire's other recipes--thanks for the suggestion and your variation. :)
