A while back, someone was looking for a taco truck in San Rafael. I found Tacos Torro today. It was not in operation, but wanted to pass this on in case someone else wants to follow up. It was parked towards the back of the lot at 1241 Andersen Dr., and I could see it from the freeway, so looped back around. The health department stickers on the truck are current and recently renewed, so I assume it does operate somewhere at some time in Marin County. The light industrial area and the specific address where its parked has several food business vans (e.g., Judy's Breadsticks, Donna's Tamales) there, so I assume there are one or more commercial kitchens that this truck may be using. Phone number painted on the truck is (415) 847-7500. Here's the photo.

Anyone spotted it in action?

ETA: I was there about 11:15 am.

I have seen a taco truck a few times doing business in the heart of the Canal district. Don't remember the cross streets, but it was near some commercial stuff.

There is a taco truck that is frequently by the Marin Sanitary Service Recycling complex in San Rafael on Jacoby Street. The building is behind a Wendy's. I have seen it numerous times when I have gone to drop off cardboard. Never stopped and had a taco though.

Funny- I have worked on Andersen for 9 years and had not paid much attention to the taco trucks...maybe between the sewer plant right next to my office and the dump half way down the street I just try to keep food out of my mind while in that area!
I love Picante so I just go there for my taco fix but I will keep my eyes peeled and let you know exact locations/truck names because I do see them around. One is usually set up in the Smart Final (i think that is it- I really don't pay much attention on this street!) parking lot most of the time.

That would be great, Miss Kittee, as we've not heard much about mobile vending in Marin. Sometimes I have taco truck peripheral vision, like that same day when I spotted 5 of them between Richmond and San Rafael. And, other days, not, so I understand exactly what you're saying. When I was in your nabe, I did see a standard Wyss catering truck go by, but no spanish words or taco painted on it anywhere.

I'll mention that I've noticed Taco Torro truck parked in the same space on Sunday evenings when I've passed by on the hiway. So, it might take Sundays off or not work at night.

There's also these guys who apparently appear at the SR farmer's market at the Civic Center on Thursdays... am going to try to stop by there this Thursday. Mobile- though not exclusive to the Marin area
