Eating at the Bar

Where else is a good place to sit at the bar and dine for lunch?

I was just at EMP last night and both my husband and I agreed that we def be back-- to eat at the bar.

I second Barrio Chino. Very good, fun atmosphere & some really interesting Margarita combinations!

Places where I have dined at the bar and had a nice time.......Otto, Picholine, Ed's, Casa Mono, Campanile, Blue ribbon bar and grill, Bar Boulud....only this last one where the service was not that great. The waitress knew nothing about wines and she works in a wine bar!!

I 2nd Otto, also, Toloache & Barrio Chino for Mexican & top notch margaritas. Not as elegant as EMP & Allegretti, but quite good.

Allegretti is one of our favorites. We've been there for lunch several times (as well as for dinner) though not at the bar. The cuisine is superb, and the staff couldn't be nicer.

I would certainly recommend Eleven Madison Park. I've never dined at the bar there, but I know the bartenders (because they also work in the dining room), and they're all super nice. I would presume the 2 for $28 lunch deal is available at the bar.

Allegretti is one of my best meals of the year this year. It really is superb, as RGR said. They have a nice bar area so that sounds like a great idea. I would also suggest Elettaria because the bar is really spacious and the drinks are creative.

I should have added that Allegretti's $28 lunch prix fixe is a bargain for cuisine of such high caliber.
