Need restaurant for bday party in Hoboken
Everyone has been so helpful with the cake I thought I'd post about this now! :-)
A group of approx. 12 will be getting together for my bday on a Saturday evening. I am looking for somewhere in Hoboken that meets (hopefully) the following criteria:
-takes reservations
-outside seating (preferably rooftop, or "backyard" but not sidewalk
-"American" type food (burgers, etc.) - not like your neighborhood bar but not like a super upscale place. A pub would be ok if it was "nice" enough. We are looking for great food but does not need to be glamourous food.
-moderately priced - less than $25 pp for an entree.
Can I find this in Hoboken? Also preferable if near Path but not absolutely necessary-
Thanks so much in advance!

You can Try OddFellows it is right across the street from the path, it has an outside patio in the back so it is off the street and it is not very pricey at all.
The menu is lousiana style but it has burgers and stuff too.
Here is the website and the outdoor cafe is shown on it.

re: NJfoodLover
Thank you - this looks like what I was thinking of..do you know how the noise level is outside on a Saturday night? I'm not looking for library volume, but also don't want the base thumping in the background, so to speak. Nor a "pick-up" place! :-)
Any other recs appreciated - should have added but does not have to be exactly in Hoboken...Weehawken, West NY (by the ferry) or Edgewater would be ok too.
Thanks!

re: lovessushi
The patio at Oddfellows will be relatively quiet. You'll have the noise of the other patrons out there but they typically close the doors. Obviously, the later it gets, the louder the music will get.
As far as it being a pick up place, it is a bar, so take that with a grain of salt.
In Jersey City, Fire & Oak just opened up in the new Westin. We went there fro the grand opening. They have an outdoor area as well, but it is sort of sidewalk, but the food was very good.
The only other place with outside seating that is not sidewalk seating is City Bistro, but they do not serve food on the rooftop deck.
Trinity has outside seating, but it is sidewalk seating. Wonderful view of NYC as it is on the Hudson.

Thanks roro for all the info! That is good to know about Oddfellows as that so far seems like the best option. I will have to check out FIre and Oak... I looked at City Bistro but did see that about the deck. I will have to look at Trinity too...
Do you know anything about the Chart House? Someone said that has outdoor seating and very good food-
Thanks again-
edit - ok Trinity is not going to work unfortunately..looks lovely but there are no prices on the menu online which makes me worry!! (None of us are in a position to spend too much).

re: lovessushi
The Chart House would be out of the price range you are looking for.
Look at the place next to trinity, The Quays, I haven't been there in a while, but they have the outdoor sidewalk seating as well.
I actually live downstairs from one of the owners of Trinity, I can't remember the price point off the top of my head, but i will actually be passing by there tomorrow. I'll let you know, I think it will work with your price range.

re: lovessushi
Quays and Trinity are better options foodwise but they are sidewalk seating which is not what you wanted. As for as I remember there is no food available on the roof at City Bistro... it is just Drinks.
I am not a fan of Outback Steakhouse but the one in Weehawken, Edgewater has outside seating overlooking the water. Houlihans in weehawken also has an outside patio. -

re: roro1831
NJ food lover thank you...unfortunately I am not a fan of chain restaurants (which probably makes me sound snobbish)...but thanks for all the info...
roro thank you as well - I appreciate you finding out...and I do understand about the outdoor seating...I'm just frustrated that this seems so difficult! Or maybe I'm too picky...
We're now thinking of just doing it in the city... which was the original, original idea (many incarnations of it!!!)...so I think I will post on the Manhattan board...
Thanks to everyone for all your input!!!
