Citronelle - Carmel?

Surprisingly I didn't find any posts about this Carmel branch of DC's renowned Michel Richard Citronelle. Anybody been there? Or better yet, can you compare this to the DC location?

Never eaten at the DC location but Citronelle is one of the best higher-end restaurants in the Carmel/Monetery area and highly recommended.

Citronelle was a wonderful place and the food sensational - but with a change in ownership, it is no longer associated with M. Richard and has been renamed.

Never been to the carmel location, but have been to the dc.

I doubt its similar because Richard is normally in DC.

Clientele will of course be very different.

On another board, two different people gave it a standing O.

...meaning no taxpayer expense account, ergo a smaller one??!!

I do recall talking to the Someiller in DC, and he said they could never get good help at the Santa Barbara location.

"meaning no taxpayer expense account, ergo a smaller one??!!"

Yes, and the dc one is full of DC bigshots.

There used to be a lot of cigar smoking in there, which I believe is not allowed there as well.

Wow - that would explain why my husband and I got treated so poorly in Santa Barabara! The snootiest maitre d'hotel ever, even though the resto was completely empty. I've eaten at M. Richard's restos in LA and SB and loved the food.

Ah, thank you! I didn't know there's a general California board. I think this post got moved here from the SF board.
