old monk rum + maple
wanted to make a quick 1 am tipple while i was working the other night
i eyeballed it, so i don;t have proportions yet
old monk rum
damned good - maple is a great sweetener for dark rum.
just thought i'd share.
any ideas for a name for this?
Sounds like the basis for an Old Monk Old Fashioned. Muddle a strip of citrus peel and some dashes of bitters with about a tsp. (or less) of maple syrup, add a few drops of water just to dissolve the syrup a bit, add a couple large ice cubes, add 2 oz. of the rum, and stir until very cold. Call it an Old Fashioned Monk or something like that. I've done this to great success using demerara syrup and some home-made sassparilla bitters.
