Salzberger Nockerlin is a puffed egg white custard dish that is locally unique and well worth seeking out. And Mozart Kugelin candies need to be savored and sampled all over this city. But pastries? Not sure I associate Salzberg with pastries per se, but the above sweets are well worth sampling.
If you want pastries, you will have to go to Ronne, Bornholm Island Denmark for by far the most outstanding danish pastries anywhere, even in Copenhagen at the Queen's offical purveyor did not come close to what we found on Bornholm Island.
Worth a trip to taste the real things before the health police eliminate these absurdly indugent creations from our collective consciences.

Hmmm... it's a long list, but here are a few of my favorite desserts found in Austria...
Apple strudel (don't miss while in Austria)
Sacher torte (chocolate cake with apricot jam layer)
Rum cake (not sure what it is called in German, but it is usually finished with pink icing, so it's easy to spot)
Linzer torte (kind of like a jam filled pie).
