I am pretty flabbergasted. I really don't know what to think. On the one hand, this is a pretty good example of what a corporate farm can and does do on a daily basis.

I guess its good that they are recycling the manure and they are doing the milking this way. The birthing theater and the museum seems a little bizarre.

Oh that place is deliciously, brilliantly weird. I used to have a season pass when I was in grad school at Purdue. <grin> The whole operation reminds me of what would happen if Walt Disney bought a dairy farm during an acid trip - the animatronic cow characters, the "4-D movie" where you wear 3-D glasses and occasionally get spritzed with water, the dairy-based videogames, the bus tour where you are constantly reminded how "comfortable and content" the cows are, and of course the birthing theater (which my not-very-distant farming roots secretly think is fabulous but is not for people that don't want to be reminded how milk and veal happen). What they didn't mention in the piece is that they also have a shop that sells their own cheese and ice cream, along with one of the best milkshakes I've ever had in my life.
