Anything replacing old Balducci's in Ridgefield?
What that area really needs is a Trader Joes or Fresh Market. Does anyone know if anything is replacing the old Balducci's location?

I can't believe Balducci's in Ridgefield shut! I found out a week after it closed - just when I was in the area and planning to drop in to get some nice fruit and veg (I love their fresh produce).
I hear Gourmet Garage took over the space of the Chelsea store - would be wonderful if they did the same for this location. Based on towm meeting in April, they are looking for a new tenant.

Two places you may want to try in the general vacinity are Greenwich Produce in Vista on 123 just north of the New Canaan border. From R'fireld take 35 west to 123 south.
Second is Zeytinia in Norwalk. on route 7 in the same mall as Boston Market/Borders just north of Walmart.

and don't forget to have a frosty Fosters at Outback while you are there.

Thanks jfood. I'll check out Zeytinia first - I'm on route 7 a lot but never noticed it, there are so many shops and businesses on that stretch that it is visual clutter for me.

It's really too bad, but I've sort of found a replacement, have you been to the organic market? It's great, the owner Lisa is wonderful as are the people who wcork there (they've been carrying my groceries to my car when I'm there w/all my kids!) I get all my fruits and veggies there as well as milk and great organic pasta sauce and great cheese. Oh, and great frozen ravioli, homemade guacamole. It's not a hige store but Lisa used to work at Balduccis and she carries a lot of specialty products they carrried. The best part is Ross's Bread is now next door, amazing bread and scones, cookies, etc (try the Lizzie's...homemade Oreo's, incredible). We're not big meat eaters but Ridgefield Prime is in the same shopping center and the butcher from Balducci's is there...you can get Balducci's (Peter Luger) Buurgers there. I've been able to do most of my shopping in that little plaza. Also, be sure to try The Cutting Board if you're there...the best challah french toast made w/ross's challah. The owners Brian and Rachel are so nice and he'll make you anything you need. We get our sandwiches and salads there now....so basocally that little shoppng center is my Balducci's replacement and it's all local businesses which to me makes it even better!

Thanks AVASMOM: What about lunch spots in Ridgefield? Inexpensive and clean, I used to spend a lot of time in Ridgefield but not so much anymore, I do love the town, when is that flea market they have on the green? Thank you

I'm a fan of the Cutting Board for lunch, not cheap, but they use lots of organic ingredients. I just had the curry chicken salad wrap today. The new bread store has a small sandwich selection, we've only had them once, but they were great. We used to get sandwiches from Balducci's every weekend. :(

My wife and I had a nice lunch at Luc's. Cozy, and food was good http://www.lucscafe.com/

Does anyone know why it closed? We need something new with a different concept with the land of our economy for us poor people who adore fresh organic foods. I hope you are listening.

Check out Nature's Temptations in Ridgefield. Just around the corner from where Balducci's was at 32 Prospect ST. They are in the old Italian-American Club building. Great hot foods, organic foods, etc.
