hey everyone, I'm looking for a tip on the best lemon meringue pie in the city. Personally, I can do without the meringue, but my partner in lemon inspired crime is a meringue addict.

Preferably in the east end of Toronto and also somewhere a little lesser known - yeah, I could hit up Dufflet's but I'm hoping for a real hidden gem.

any suggestions?

I have a friend who swears by Penrose Fish & Chips' homemade lemon meringue pie. I haven't had it in years and can't remember what it's like, but I think the owner's mom makes it fresh once a week (is it Fridays?). I've been told you have to get there early for dinner a) to get in before they close and b) to get any pie.

Frangipane - S side of Dupont a block or two E of Spadina - has the most incredible lemon meringue tart, in both personal and family sizes. The confection features a short crust, tart filling and creamy meringue. A must. Check their opening hours.

I"m gonna need some stretchy pants!
