Help with a "best of" list

I know NYC offers SO many choices, but would like some input on the following:

Best inexpensive (for NYC) food experience!

Best ethnic (any type but Mexican-get all I want from home) restaurant!

Arriving in a week and have reservations for Babbo, but 6 nights of no plans.

Would appreciate any suggestions about the above for dinners.

  1. Your two questions seem kind of vague. How inexpensive is inexpensive? $5? $20? Do you want sit down, take out, street food? Pizza, bagels, ice cream, pastrami sandwiches, something else?

Best ethnic that isn't Mexican...any preferences at all?

    Don't Leave NY Without Eating...

    NYC for visitors:

I highly recommend RGR's self guided Lower East Side Gustatory tour:

    Best pizza in NY:

    Best brunch:

I think these trip reports/itinerary might help:

    1. Best inexpensive food: the idli at Saravanaas. A pizza at Difara is not in Manhattan, but it better qualifies as a food "experience" and is not that expensive.

Best ethnic... is italian an ethnicity? cuz then it ain't Babbo, man I dislike the food there. So for best ethnic, I'll go with Grand Sichuan Eastern.
