frozen shrimp shells

Hi,

I've been saving some shrimp shells in my freezer with the intention to use them to make a sauce or bisque or something along those lines. Now I've realized they've been in there a really long time-- not exactly sure how long at this point, but close to 9 months is a safe bet.

How long do you think they'll keep for? Any danger in using them or will they simply lack flavor?

Thanks for the info.

I finally got around to using them, adding them to a crab stock I made after a home crab boil. Not sure they added much flavor to the stock given the small amount of shrimp shells relative to crab shells-- but they certainly didn't hurt it.

I used some really old ones. Np one got sick, but the house stunk, and the flavor of the stock was fishy...

They will be OK in terms of not dangerous but they may have that "freezer" taste to them.
