Cooke's Inn closing

jonathankavner Jun 16, 2009 11:29 AM

Just a heads up to all Huntington local foodies, Juanita Cooke is retiring again and will be closing her Cooke's Inn on June 20.

So this is the last week to get your fill of her fried chicken.

Yep, it's a shame. Went there a few weeks ago, and will again tonight with some friends.

... and I went back yet again today, for the closing. Jerk stewed ribs over rice, collard greens, roasted potatoes, sweet potato fries, and the corn pudding, which is on the list of Best Things Ever. Finished off with Key lime pie and flourless chocolate cake (sadly, they had no more lemon buttermilk pie left).

What a shame it's gone. I was tempted to drive back for takeout to freeze.
