Roast Pork Sandwiches in Philly

Hi all,

I'm looking to try and compare a few different roast pork places around town. I plan on hitting up these spots so far:

John's Roast Pork
DiNics
Georges (Italian Market)
Tony Lukes
Paesanos

Anyone know any other worthwhile spots? Ciity, suburbs and Jersey are all welcome.

That's a good list, but you should make sure you try Paesano's last, because anything you try after will be a letdown.

i would also include nick's roast beef in your quest. their roast pork is not the typical one you'd get at some of those other places but it is also delicious! it's at 20th and jackson (don't confuse it with the one in old city).

and if you want to try somethign truly special, order a roast beef too. :) i like an overboard, operated combo myself. sometimes with a rabes topper. :D

Be aware that there are two Georges in the Italian Market, they both have roast pork but the original is the one with the serving window open to the street thats at the northern end of the market on the west side of the street.

I was aware of this and assumed they were the same operation. Is this true? Any opinions on which one is better?

They are NOT related. Stick with the one one storefront down from Christian St

Lorenzo's is on the corner and has a window for pizza, next to that is George's which has a window and inside seating at a counter.

What is this place? I looked it up and it looks like a South American joint. What's the roast pork sandwich like here?

Having tried most of those you listed, I'd suggest you go to DiNic's first and use them as the comparison.

In the 'burbs, try Olde Philadelphia Sandwich Shop on Old York Road in Jenkintown (same shopping center as Abners Barbeque).

I hear Mr. V's in Franklin Mills is good, but everytime I try to get one, I'm too late and they're sold out. Let me know how it is if you can get one.
