I don't see much written about Lumiere, db Moderne, Bishop's, Market or Crocodile. The obvious reason would be that they're not worth writing about. Am I missing something?

  1. We don't talk about them much - you are right - but whenever they do come up, the words have been positive. There are a couple of other food forums where they come up more often.

We had an extremely successful work function at Bishop's last Friday. I have not had a chance to write it up yet but I will soon. In the meantime, I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who enjoys expertly prepared locally focused food with gracious service and surroundings. I think people are so used to relying on Bishop's quality that they forget to mention it :-).

I agree about Bishops and would add Le Crocodile to the same group. They've both been around for so long, recommending them is kind of boring... but they're both consistently outstanding restaurants.

DB Bistro and Market are both solid restaurants (especially Market IMO).... I just would rather recommend a restaurant that you couldn't find somewhere else, instead of something you can have in multiple cities around the globe.

Lumiere I would say is in the same category as West or C. The reason it doesn't get mentioned as much, or at least why I don't recommend it as much, is because the price isn't very approachable. If someone is looking for "a special meal" I think Lumiere, along with others like West, C, Tojo's, etc. get their due.

Thanks, all. Your remarks confirmed what I had thought. We ate at Crocodile years ago and thought it was excellent, but we are looking for excellent and something we aren't likely to find anywhere we else we go. Thanks again.
