  • 5

This thread is my recent Visits to Restaurants Millburn/Short Hills – Union - Maplewood – South Orange. Any other must try suggestions in this area are appreciated.

Millburn
Enchante Artisan Cuisine Cafe
http://www.enchantenj.com/
Stopped in here about 2 weeks ago.
They have a lovely cheese case, daily quiches, specials, and sandwiches.
Very kind and helpful people.
Apricot and Gruyere Quiche – very good
Pear crumb cake – good but sweet
There are a few tables inside and out. Nothing fancy. Will return!

Cianchi
This place is located on Main Street, parking is difficult.
Looks like it is a Creperie. Could not find any info or a website, maybe I spelled it wrong?
Will return and check it out.

Ling Ling Millburn
My lunch was less than ok, service was slow, and this Chinese restaurant is nothing like Ling Ling Riverwalk in Basking Ridge, which is very good.

Sakura Japanese
http://www.sakuramillburn.com/
Salmon Sushi – Good
Queen Roll – Spicy Tuna – Spicy Salmon – Spicy Yellowtail Avocado with Roe – Good
Favorite part of this meal was the Chrysanthemum Tea.
Cozy restaurant, good sushi, kind helpful staff.

Union
Whole Foods - Osteria
This is a newer whole foods store; they closed the one in Millburn.

Enjoyed a huge Caesar Salad – Very Good!
Restaurant is connected to the food store – not a quiet restaurant - but happy.

Maplewood
Sona Classic Indian Cuisine
6 1/2 Highland Pl Across the street from Cent’Anni
Maplewood, NJ 07040
(973) 763-6770‎

This restaurant is nestled back off the road, serves a wonderful lunch buffet for 11.99. They usually do 2-3 vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Always Yummy!

Arturo’s Brick Oven Pizza
http://www.arturosnj.com/welcome.html
Stopped into this place not too long ago.
The gentlemen here were super kind and accommodating.
Prosuitto and Spinach Personal Pie – Good
Soup of the day – Sausage and broccoli rabe - Good
Will have to return, and try another pizza, while it was good, from all the rave reviews I was expecting more, maybe I did not order the right things.

Samuri Sushi
http://www.usasamurai.com/
Have been here many times. Very good sushi!
They also have two more locations, Livingston and Millburn.

South Orange
Bonte Waffeleria and Café
http://mybonte.com/cafe-entry.php

This place may be a chain but they make a yummy Belgium waffle.
Parking is not easy here by the train station and you may want to take a buddy with you.

Eden Market is across the street, which has lots of great gourmet food.
This is close to the Turtle Back Zoo and Park, picnic places all over.

Haru Sushi
63 Academy Street
South Orange NJ
http://www.harunj.com/
Located around the corner from the Town Hall Deli.
It is a small restaurant that has been there for a long time Excellent sushi.
It gets crowded; sometimes I don’t stop because it is so packed.

Any other must try suggestions in this area are appreciated.

  1. Cianci is really good. I had a great ham and gruyere sandwich there on such a tasty bagette. I don't think they have a website, but I also eat there another time and had a great salad. It has been a while, so I cannot remember it. The setup is almost like a Panera Bread, place the order and then pick it up...or they will bring it to you. Huge dining area in the back. Definately try it. It is almost like a French boulangerie.

I just love Basilico in Millburn for dinner. I don't know if they are open for lunch, but I have never had a bad meal here ever!

    1. when i lived in the area, millburn deli was always my go-to place

      1. Tried Corner Table Café in Whole Foods Union, NJ
This was a disappointment. They burnt my grilled cheese sandwich, service was slow, and food was not interesting.

        1. Bunny's at the South Orange train station makes a kickass pizza.

We live nearby and think the pizza (and everything else) at Bunny's is pretty mediocre. It does seem to have a following, though.
