MSP-Admiral D's in WBL

Does anyone have an update on the new venture by The Happy Gnome folks? The new place, Admiral D's should have opened by now, but I know they've had a construction/City Council setback...

We've been there several times already. Our standing joke is it takes a $20 bill to go there. I put it on my blog the other day. http://rosebudscottage.typepad.com It's all patio ... kind of tucked back from the street with lots of trees as noise buffers ... great view of the lake. Had a fabulous grilled chicken sandwich on a very tasty bun Friday ... drinks and chips another time ... they have good tortilla chips ... little bland on the guacamole and salsa ... personally I think they should have Casa Lupita in WBL make them for the restaurant. Friendly staff and terrific landscaping. I can see it being a busy place on nice days. With reasonable prices it's an affordable place for lunch or dinner. I hope they do well.

Thanks for the review...I've been dying for a good summer lunch spot on WBL. Hopefully this is it.

I called Admiral D's yesterday and they are open, though they have a limited menu until the kitchen is in full swing; my mum's taking me there for birthday dinner on 6/19, so I'l report back.

Last night, I was speaking with a friend who has a boat at the marina next to Admiral D's. She said she had a few drinks there this past weekend.

I'm not sure of the hours; they didn't look open when I drove by yesterday ~2pm.

I was wondering who was behind this project. I work in WBL and go to the Kowalski's quite a bit. A few weeks back, I see this big brick building out of nowhere...it all makes sense (and I'm delighted to hear its the Happy Gnome crew!)

I can't speak to the setbacks, unfortunately. If I see someone working on the place, I might go ask.

I heard Wisconsin wanted to collect taxes.
