Tofu not from Monsanto's GMO Seed?

1newyorkguy Jun 15, 2009 10:37 AM

Where can one find tofu that isn't from Monsanto's GMO soybean seed? If you've seen Food Inc and/or The Corporation you know what I'm talking about.

i'm sure you can get a lot of specific local recs, but most obviously-- buy an organic brand, since they can't use gmos.

fwiw, the organic tofu that has become the mainstay of my kitchen is:

this is NOT the stuff that comes in a little plastic tub submerged in water (which, to me, has a odd taste). it comes wrapped in plastic only. every trader joe's seems to stock it in a different place in the store, so you will need to ask.

this stuff is firm enough so you can make tofu fajitas with it and it won't fall apart (while you're at trader joes you can pick up the organic red peppers with which to make this). also, to my palate, the flavor is 'cleaner' than most brands of packaged tofu.

have you tried their soy corn dogs? I bought a box based on a sample I had, but it doesn't mention it being organic, so it's going back.

those dogs pass the taste test but they are certainly NOT organic.

          All organic tofu is non-GMO.
