alternatives to Summerlicious July 17-19
hey all, found my way here re reviews of summerlicious. my foodier-than-me boyfriend and I are meeting up in TO this weekend for the Beaches Jazz Festival, and at first, the Summerlicious sounded cool... but now I am ??? re the quality of the experience.
We'd like to have one romantic meal (budget around $150), preferably downtown so we can walk or take a cab.
On Sunday, I'd like to show him Chinatown, but it has been years since I have been... we'd be having lunch... and not necessarily dim sum (maybe I am a pleb, but very mixed experiences with that, maybe ordering wrong)... maybe something like Kings Noodle?
thanks for any advice... we hardly ever ever get away, so don't want to have our few meals regretable.

I don't know if you can edit your title here, but, it is very misleading. I thought you were proposing an alternative to summerlicious. You might get less response now based on your title.
My summerlicious experiences have been pretty good overall. I would still recommend it as long as you select wisely the restaurant. There are some newer restaurants on the list this year that I would like to try. I am not sure of the restaurants around the Beaches area but you might enjoy the Jazz so much that you may want to grab a quicker bite to eat as the festival is bustling with activity!
