We are travelling back to Amsterdam this summer and are trying to locate this restatrunt taht had a South African safari menu

But I have been unable to locate them online

Would anyone know if they are still in business - - we were there last in the summer of 2007 - so its possile they are no longer there?

Help Chowhounds !

Pygmalion is no longer in business, unfortunately.
I recently had a nice South African dinner at http://www.tjingtjing.com/.

      Thanks Klary !
too bad - - guess I will have to find some other "exotic" spot while in Amsterdam! You suggestion certainly looks woth a peek when we get there - -although Pygma had a more extensive game menu ....

so unfortunate that pygmalion is gone! such a unique menu!

the place is now occupied by a restaurant called "spelt" - same location, same interior design and furniture but rather standard Dutch menu: http://www.restaurantspelt.nl/index-2-2.html

anything else in old Amsterdam similar to pygmalion & worth a visit

I agree - shame it is gone!

            hi few!

that's a tough one! the menu at pygmalion with springbok and zebra and antelope and all was very unique. closest i can think of is in cape town...

you might want to consider "de struisvogel", which is dutch for ostrich: http://www.goodfoodgroup.nl/struisvogel.html

it's a small restaurant in a souterrain on the keizersgracht. menu is mostly french and like the name suggests, they have a good ostrich on the menu.

not exactly similar, but also a very unique menu and one of my four favorite restaurants in amsterdam is "de witte uyl": http://witteuyl.com/ it's in de pijp, has very friendly and knowledgeable service, an unbeatable wine list and a menu that is a mix of local dutch, french and asian

hope you will find a good replacement!
