Middletown CT for a family celebration?

Hi, I saw an earlier post from someone looking for a bar-type place near Wesleyan in Middletown, CT, but no replies in about a year and I'm looking for something different.

We have a group 7 ranging from 9 months to 83 years celebrating a graduation. Looking for a weekday lunch place. Most of the adults are on the foody side, there is one child (not counting the baby) and he is well-behaved. No guarantees on the baby's behavior.

Looking for good atmosphere and excellent food. Middletown, Glastonbury, or vicinity. Any suggestions?

I go down and take my son out to lunch in Middletown and I recommend ION, It's Only Natural, however, they have no meat and usually no fish either. But it's a nice lunch place. They could easily accommodate 7 and I love their arugula and tofu salad. They have a patio, but it overlooks a parking lot. We eat out there anyway. It's a little funkier than you may in for, but I really love the place.

I like Fiore II for Italian--you should find something for everyone there.

We did this about a year ago with a similar age span. The Inn at Middletown treated us all well- I think we were in some sort of a pub room. It was in the back of the building and we were all at one table. There were about 18 of us. Since my parents were staying there, it made it especially easy for them. We also went to Fiore II and were well treated there. I can't say either was off the charts in terms of innovative food, however they were both very welcoming and patient with all of us and our various desires. (Little kids, teenagers, vegans, meat and potato ONLY types and a few impatient, demanding loved ones who want their order out within the very briefest of time spans.) My parents, who are in their 80s, liked both places and that was especially important to our group. Sometimes a nice relaxed environment and lots of family under one roof is more special than anything, I guess.

It's Only Natural is fantastic!! The restaurant itself is very casual but oh...the food is SO, SO good!
