<content>This morning I took a walk through the certified farmers market in downtown Redwood City. Managed by the Kiwanis Club, it is the oldest market on the Peninsula and one of the largest. Parking in the public lot across the street (next to the railroad tracks) is free during market hours. Vendors at the market accept WIC vouchers, but are not set up for EBT (food stamps).

Pamplemousse bakery had a sign on site, but had not shown up with any goods by the time I left at 9:30. I&#8217;ll have to try the macarons another time.

Most of the farmers seemed to be from the Central Valley, offering up beautiful displays of Asian produce (bunched herbs, eggplants, bitter melons, brassicas), cherries and stone fruit. Some farmers from Watsonville and San Juan Bautista were represented. Few were organic, the exceptions were Ibarra and Twin Girls. I bought some Bing cherries ($2.50/lb.) from a grower from Linden and unpasteurized pomegranate juice from Twin Girls. I also picked up strawberries from Vang Farms in Merced, trying to find something similar to the berries I purchased in Fresno last year. Forgot to ask the specific variety, but these are the type with the indented seeds and are quite sweet but firmer than my memory of the jammy Fresno fruit.
