Fleur de Sel Brasserie, Calgary

Anyone eaten there lately? We are planning to dine at this place tonight.

So it sounds like we will be OK. Stay away from Mousse and steak frites, but eat the rest.

Eh, the frites are great. They fry them up in duck fat. I've never tried the mousse, though.

Just came back from dinner and as most times, great place to leave my $$.
The fries were very good. Not enough of them would be my only gripe.

Fleur de Sel has always been one of my favourite restaurants here. The atmosphere alone is an experience. The menu is mostly standard French bistro/brasserie fare, done correctly. The service is outstanding. You probably won't get out of there cheaply, but it's worth it.

I recommend the pate, the confit, the choucroute, any one of their excellent seafood dishes, and the ostrich tenderloin. Enjoy yourself.

Most recently, I ate there a couple months ago; it was alright. I didn't exactly "die and go to heaven". But, I did enjoy the cassoulet (it was wonderful for the winter weather...I had duck added I believe, but it is unnecessary, as there is already more than plenty to eat). It had many layers of flavour, and was seasoned to my liking. Husband's steak and frites was so-so. I hardly touched the chocolate mousse as it was chalky with lumps of chocolate.

On another visit for lunch quite some time ago, the pate sandwich was divine, a very large portion of pate!

Ate there last week - eat there quite regularly. One of our favourite spots in Calgary - great food, warm service. Probably as close to a French restaurant experience as you'll get in Calgary.
