How much frosting for a cupcake?

I've made 24 cupcakes. I am intending to make a frosting recipe intended for a cake to go with the cupcakes, but I'm not sure how to scale the recipe! Any guidelines on how much frosting per cupcake (or for a batch of 24)? I've come up emptyhanded on a google search...

  1. Depending on how thick you like your frosting, I would say to make a recipe that usually frosts an 8" or 9" cake. You are only frosting the tops of the cupcakes whereas with a cake, you would be frosting in between the layers as well as the sides, so you should have more than enough.

    1. I'd prepare 2 1/2 cups; one and a half TBSP (approx,) per cupcake
