Going to Under the Moon on Saturday night and want to stop at a bar for a (good) drink beforehand. Not familiar with Bordentown but would want a place within walking distance to the restaurant. Suggestions appreciated. Thanks

You could try Chickie and Pete's.

Jesters is about a 30 second walk from UTM and the place to get a drink before dinner. I'm sure you know but just in case UTM is BYO.
Enjoy, we go there often and always enjoy the variety of food.

I concur with Jesters, but if they’re too crowded, you might want to try the bar in the Farnsworth House, although it’s a couple of blocks in the opposite direction from UTM.

A previous thread I just replied on made me search the Farnsworth House, and I couldn't agree more. They have a nice bar, and a bunch of great beers on tap. Fatih (Fah-Tee)behind the bar also makes a great martini.

They also have a new bar menu that is ridiculously good! They have some nice Medditeranean inspired dishes on the menu, and their different kabobs are awesome. We ate at the bar 3 nights last week as we were to lazy too cook before and after the holiday. 2 dishes or sandwiches with drinks for under $30...doesn't get much better than that. I really enjoy the Kofte kabob! Farnsworth House is definitely worth a visit. I think it has gotten a lot better in the last year, but in my opinion, never deserved the criticism that some gave it. I have never had a bad meal there. -mJ

mJ - I am somewhat surprised by your recommendation. Although I haven't been back in quite sometime, my previous experiences with the Farnsworth House have been very disappointing. If I recall, the only redeeming quality I found with the restaurant, was the well priced wine list. That being said, as I trust your opinion, I may need to give them another try.

I really enjoy it bgut, but I mostly eat off of the bar menu as it is so affordable, and because I am so poor! LOL! Their regualr menu is good though, and I still think that they have the best steaks in town. Try the bar menu first one night, and if you like it, head back and eat off of their regular menu as you might disagree with my palate, and I'd feel guilty giving you a bad recommendation.

Their wine list is indeed reasonably priced! Had a Cakebread cab there recently for $60 and a BV Tapestry for $45. No idea if they were giving us a deal or not because we frequent often and odn't look at the wine list, but that is great pricing. They usually knows what we enjoy, and bring a few bottles over for us to chose from. They also have Chateau Montelena on the list, Sanford chardonnay, and a few nice Italians.

Sorry to hear that your experiences in the past were not as good as ours! But I am also a local, so maybe I am a bit biased! -mJ

No problem mJ. Maybe things have changed since I was last there. I do recall picking up a bottle of Stags Leap Artemis at such a good price I thought it was either a typo or that the prices were old and they had failed to revise their wine list. I'll put it back on my list but I still have to get in a few visits to Under the Moon and Oliver before I give it another shot.

Did you see my reply on the Oliver thread? Was thinking a get together in January with you guys and tom246. UTM or Oliver would work! I think I threw the 16th out there. -mJ

mJ - Althought the date may not work for me, I'm definitely up to doing dinner. I'll get in touch with tom246.

No worries, was just throwing it out there. Any time will do for us for the most part! And it's always great to get together with tom246 and his lovely bride! Look forward to it! -mJ
