Saturday night dinner at the Piazza at Scmidts

We want to go check out the Piazza at Schmidts with another couple on a Saturday night in a couple of weeks.
Any recommendations on which restaurant to go to?

  1. Whatever you do, don't go to Darling's.

Details please? Bad service? food? prices?

Very bad food. I went there for breakfast and had sausage biscuits and gravy. It was cheap, like $7, so I was expecting maybe a big biscuit cut in half with a couple links' worth of sausage. Instead it was like 3 food-service biscuits with what had to be at least 3/4 pound of sausage on it, swimming in a very bad gravy. For some reason the whole thing was permeated with the flavor of fake maple syrup, my guess would be that the crappy sausage they're buying comes pre-infused with maple flavor. It was a very large quantity of very bad ingredients, I ate a few bites and that was all I could take. It was the worst thing I've been served in a restaurant in quite a long time.

    2. Haven't been - but did you see Michael Klien's piece in yesterday's Inquirer?

Have a drink at Swift Half or the wine bar for some people watching. But, maybe eat at Bar Ferdinand or one of the other great Northern Liberties restaurants. The food at Swift Half and Vino has been lack luster so far.

ate at swift half over the weekend and the food was good, but they need to iron some shenanigans out. their cheese and charcuterie selection was pretty decent and well presented, the grilled ham and cheese special on foccacia was yummy, and the mussels were good, but they served them with chorizo that was very very thinly sliced, like salami. it sisn't really work with the mussels, but the flavor was decent. service was very good though, as were the prices and the beer list and who hates drinking outside?
