I will be visiting in Seattle in July to catch the Mariners. Can someone tel me where I can get some "Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier".I haven't had it since I was in Bamberg Germany 3 years past and I can't get it in BC. but have heard it is available3 in Seattle. Thanks
Ballard Market almost always has it if you're looking to get it to go (i.e. to bring home with you). So should the Seattle Beer Authority and Bottleworks. Can't speak to who has the best price, I drink one bottle of this about once a year - it's like liquid bacon, not a session beer for me.
If you want to enjoy it in a bar, Über Tavern or the Beveridge Place Pub.
The people's pub has one imported Rauchbier on their menu always. I can't remember off the top of my head which it was though.
people's pub in ballard does have it (i don't believe i've seen other labels of rauchbier there. and my understanding is the schlenkerla is the ur-rauchbier.) i've also found bottles at the qfc in unversity village. i agree that it's a fantastic beer and quite singular. by the way don't trust american microbrewed versions. unless someone has started doing it the authentic way (drying the malted barley over open beechwood flames, rather than in a kiln)
i am pretty sure i saw schlenkerla on draft last weekend at collins - it stuck out as i was wonderiing who would drink a glass of liquid ham on a sunny 70 degree day
