Calgary - Teatro Cafe!

Just got back from lunch and had to quickly post as I had lunch at the newly opened Teatro Café – Ca’ppunino (think I got that right) in the Olympic plaza kiosk. All I can say is YUMMY! I had the pulled lambwich, iced tea, and huge brownie. The sandwich initially I thought was too small but was perfect in size (as I was hungry) with a fresh white bun, coleslaw, bbq sauce, and huge amount of pulled fresh melt in your mouth lamb. The iced tea was the best I’ve ever had – unsweetened but not bitter with loads of flavour and just enough ice to keep it cold but not to make it watery. The brownie was huge like the size of my hand and solid but tender and light with walnuts. Teatro does it again! I’ll definitely be back to try all the other sandwiches, salads, sweets, and coffees!

Thanks for the post. After reading this post, I was excited to give Teatro Cafe a try today. I too tried the pulled lambwich. However, I thought it was just ok... nothing to write home about. The lamb was indeed very tender and flavourful. However, I didn't find a huge amount of lamb in the sandwich. Also, I didn't care for the coleslaw... and I found there was almost twice as much slaw as there was lamb in my sandwich. There was too much dressing on the slaw so it made the sandwich soggy, especially near the end. I actually thought the slaw took away from the sandwich. Perhaps, I caught them on an off day?!?

All the sandwiches cost $6.90 at Cafe Teatro... so with taxes it works out to $7.25. It's a decent sandwich for the price compared to what you get at other places. They also have a panini, a chicken club and a couple others... I would be willing to go back and give them another chance even though my experience today certainly didn't knock my socks off.

Thanks for the post! What was the price for your lunch? Is there room to sit down or is it take away?

It's just take away and they have two bistro tables with a bunch of chairs if you want to sit down. Its in a kiosk so you just walk up to the window and order.
I believe the sandwiches are just over $6. The iced tea and sandwich together was $10 with tax.

We are just packing up to head down to Calgary.

If the highway patrol are not too zealous we may just make it down there to check into the hotel and pick some sandwiches up to take back for a slightly later lunch.
