Green Chilis

I know this has come up before, but not for a while.

Where to buy fresh green chilis in NYC? Previous post from years ago pointed to the Kitchen Market in Chelsea, which is closed now.

It's hard for me to believe hatch green chilis cannot be found here... anyone?

Whole Foods usually has several varieties.

They do but I've never seen hatch green chile peppers, which are famous in New Mexico. I've seen Mexican, Thai, etc. But never Hatch.

If the OP can live with random Anaheim/New Mexico chiles - rather than the specific Hatch cultivar let alone actual chiles from N Mexico - Amish Markets sometimes have them.

Yesterday, I actually bought 10 pounds of slightly-old Hatch peppers at the Union Square Whole Foods for $1.29 a pound (on sale). They're out now (basically I bought all the ones they had left :P), but they'll get them back in later this week for $3.99 per pound. I just called the Chelsea Whole Foods, and they said they have Hatch peppers for about another week! The new UWS Whole Foods does _not_ carry them. Foragers Market has them for $9.99 per pound (wow, that seems unreasonable!).

Given that you need 10 pounds to turn into any reasonable amount of roasted pepper, even $3.99/pound actually rather expensive. But still cheaper than buying them online. :-/

I think Foragers Market in DUMBO had them at some point last year. Not sure if they still carry them.
