Time for some love for Dolcetto. I’ve mentioned it here and there on CH but I don’t think there are any posts devoted to it. That is a shame because it is a great little coffee shop with a cozy feel -- there's even a wee banquette/sofa dealy at the front. You probably know it is run by the same fellow who owns Cru, Mark Taylor. They serve 49th Parallel and the baristas know what they are doing (special shoutout to Mim) -- I think they pull a better latte here on average than at the flagship 49th P on 4th though of course that is quite subjective. They also make a mighty fine chai latte if you're not doing coffee (try it with soy milk for a true Kits hot beverage experience). We’ve tried a few of their grilled sandwiches and they have all been tasty but I have a special place in my heart for the breakfast muffin with pancetta. We haven’t been for a while and when I poked my head in last week alas the breakfast muffins have been replaced with breakfast panini. But I will not despair till I have tried them, and I am sure the coffee is just as good as ever. If you're in the hood, check it out. It gets my vote as the best among the admittedly numerous coffee options in the surrounding few blocks.

I find that's a problem with pretty well all the good cafes in Vancouver. It's really hard to get a good coffee after dinner here!

My only late-night alternatives right now are non-coffee options:
Sweet Obsessions (I'll order tea)
Dulcinea (for hot chocolate)
Chico Cafe (for tea and Japanese desserts... but my friend says the coffee is good)

Any more out there?

Sad to report that Dolcetto is no more -- I hear elsewhere that it has been sold. No more 49th Parallel within easy walking distance of home, wah!
