Lizarran (Fullerton) $1 Pintxos

Lizarran in Fullerton is celebrating their one year anniversary w/$1 pintxos (normally $1.75). Their celebration runs thru Fri 12 June 2009.

Pintxos vary from okay to good to very good. Mr OCAnn and I left with full bellies and spent <$20 (before tip). Service was friendly and professional. We may consider returning on Fri when they have a flamenco dancer later in the evening....

From the menu, we really enjoyed the paella and Entrecotta a la Parilla (rib steak). We've also ordered Tarta Santiago con chupito de Vino dulce (cake w/sweet wine) which my husband enjoyed, but I found to be just okay. Whenever we go, we usually have the pintxos which can vary from delicious to okay. Also, Mr OCAnn enjoys their sangria.

The owner is quite nice; he'll make the rounds and make you feel welcomed and at home.

Have sampled over a dozen of the pintxos and... they were all barely "okay". The near cafeteria interior + harsh lighting is just not my digs.

I really wanted to like this place. They did have a very good white fish in a tomato based sauce, but the the rest of the food was just okay. Agree--the LIGHTING IS THE WORST! (flourescents in a restaurant, please.)

      2. yeah, i'm kinda skeptical but 'have' to try it for a birthday party. any tapas better than others? *crosses fingers.

I liked the ones w/smoked salmon or baby eels. The hot ones that come directly from the kitchen to trays passed in the dining room are fare slightly better than the ones in the case (on the bar).
