Haven't been there yet, but from what I've heard they serve a 10 to a lb natural casing Sabrett that is prepared dirty water style. It's a great dog, but then again I don't know if it's hot enough, left in the water too long, etc. at Steve's. Even though different places may use the same dog, it will be better at one place because of the way it's prepared. Best all beef dog? It's a matter of opinion; but for what's it worth, my opinion is that Best Provisions makes a better dog and grilled is preferable to boiled.

I'm always on Second Street because I hang out at the Bike Stand, and I heard about Steve's opening a couple of weeks ago. I finally made it there last week. Very friendy place, not too easy to find (it is a few shops to the east of the bakery. You can get your hotdog dirty water or grilled, I got mine grilled, with mustard and barbeque onions. The onions have a slight kick. I really liked it, will definitely return.

Tried this place today.
Grilled hot dog on a potato roll with mustard and relish
It was good. Wish them luck.

Then tried my first Texas Weiner from Texas Weiner II
Great people there - It has been in business for 75 years.
It too was good. Obviously they need no luck.

With all due respect, IMO, Steve's Hot Dogs were not the best I have tried. Would not recommend a far travel for this dog, but keep in mind, I am not a hot dog connoisseur. Maybe the splitter or dirty water would have been a better choice for me?!?
