best larabar flavors?
i like ginger, it's tasty and not supersweet like most energy bars are.
are there any other larabar flavors that people like?
I really like the Banana Larbars and recently discovered the Pistachio which is a great mix of sweet and salt.
Larabar Taste Test Results (raw food energy bar mainly made of dates)
peanut butter -- peanut butter cookie. no date flavor at all. salty/sweet.
pistachio -- date + pistachio bits flavor. salty/sweet.
cherry pie -- very tart, probably the most sour of all the bars so far
ginger -- spicy. lot of ginger heat. half a bar is enough. lightly sweet.
banana -- banana bread, very intense ripe banana flavor. sweet.
apple pie -- very clove, cinnamon apple. very sweet.
- None of the flavors have taste of dates even though they're the main ingredient. it's mostly used as texture and a not very sweet base ingredient.
- Cheapest source: Safeway or Trader Joes: 1.25 per bar. (might be better deals online)
- Easiest to find: peanut butter, cherry pie, apple pie.
- Tastes like description: peanut butter, apple pie, banana (kind of boring actually if it tastes like the description. I'd rather a very good unique flavor but maybe that's as good as it gets for raw food.)
-New favorites: cherry pie, ginger
If you see the coconut cream pie one, mmmmm is it good! It's got more calories than the others though because coconut is high in fat, but it's worth it for the flavour. It's nice and coconutty.

cashew cookie - salty sweet combo of sweet cashew and the plain date base.
chocolate coconut chew -- barely sweet. dark chocolate cocoa taste, some coconut texture.
pecan pie - barely sweet pecan pie taste and texture. totally pecan. very astringent
key lime pie - tart. key lime and coconut flavor and ricotta cheesecake texture
cinnamon roll - cinnamon roll cookie dough with raisins. very cinnamon. sweet
lemon bar - very tart and sweet. lots of lemon icing flavor with nuts.
combined with the other flavors tasted peanut butter -- peanut butter cookie, pistachio, cherry pie, ginger, banana, apple pie. That's a total of 12 flavors.
key lime pie (complex with lime and coconut and cheesecake texture), cherry pie (tart cherry with crunchy nuts is just tasty without being too sweet), chocolate coconut chew (intense cocoa flavor without sweetness you normally find in chocolate, less rich than chocolate too).
peanut butter cookie (eating plain peanuts). cinnamon roll (exactly like cinnamon roll dough), pecan pie (too astringent, like eating pecans by the mouthful), pistachio or cashew (either of these flavors are good but not very interesting -- just date base and nut flavor). ginger (almost too gingery to eat the whole bar but still yummy),
As a whole, most of the flavors are not complex but a straightforward simple flavor profile which can be boring. Most of the flavors aren't too sweet, with the exception of apple pie, lemon bar which are almost too sweet. The least sweet are probably the chocolate coconut chew, pecan pie. The saltiest are peanut butter cookie, cashew cookie, pistachio.
To complete the Larabar experiment, I've added a Larabar recipe link.
Since the larabar is essentially raw food, uncooked, the ingredient are simply blended and shaped into a bar. After browsing through a number of recipes and looking at the completed products, I think this website has the most likely recipe.
