Hot Picnic in Santa Moncia?

Heading up to the Will Geer theatre this weekend and looking to picnic on a chilly night so need some recommendations for take out soups, chilis or hot entrees in Santa Monica (which is where we're starting from). Closer to the promenade the better, but will travel for good food. Thanks!

Bay Cities has soups and hot entrees, though if I were you I'd get a hot sandwich.

Second Bay Cities, but Huckleberry also has soups & warm sandwiches and delectable sweets & coffee to go.

Cynthia's on Montana. Great soups, lots of great hot entrees like fried chicken, meatloaf, steak sandwich...

Don't bother with Santa Monica. You can get food to take out in Topanga, which will of course be hotter by the time you get it to the Theatricum. You might think about Abuelita's (http://www.abuelitastopanga.com/) or the Canyon Bistro (http://www.canyonbistro.com/html/inde...). Both have good food, though on the basis of your post it sounds as if Canyon Bistro is likely to have more like what you are looking for. I noted that Canyon Bistro's website has a link for ordering to-go food in advance, online.

          Hadn't thought of that. Thanks.
