Great place for Dinner/Happy Hour near the San Diego Zoo?

Hi all,

My BF and I ae driving down from LA to do the Zoo thing..will be there on Monday. Are there any good places we can go grab dinner and/or happy hour afterwards while we wait for the traffic to die down? We are having dinner at Nobu on Sunday so anything but sushi will work. Thanks in advance!

Yakitori Yakyudori is insanely good and close.

I heard they have a great happy hour too.

The zoo is just up the hill from little italy as well, where you have tons of options.

Mr. A's is right there as well.

You said no sushi, but if you are still in the mood Hane sushi is great and very close and much better than nobu in my opinion.

Really depends on exactly what you are looking for, as I just gave you about a big a range of options (cuisine, price, atmosphere) as you could want.

steve, do you have any recommendations for sushi rolls at Hane? We tried going last Sat night, couldn't get in of course. The place smelled delicious.

I never really get rolls.

Always sashimi.

Or omakase.

It was completely packed. The woman at the front desk told us to not bother waiting, although she appeased us by taking down our phone number.

I love sashimi also, but am a sucker for the double tuna rolls at Ota (forgot the exact name).

Thanks Steve, Yakitori sounds great! I would probably agree with you on Nobu as well--we are dining there more out of convenience than anything else since we will be staying at the Hard Rock.

Never been Monday, and I doubt it will be packed, but I typically call ahead.

Just a tip.

And sit at the bar.
