We will be driving from Hauppauge to Orient Point on a Sunday. Any suggestions on where to stop for lunch?

If you have lots of time and want lunch to be the high point of your day, then make reservations at North Fork Table & Inn in Southold - it's, probably LI's best restaurant. For something quicker and cheaper, try Jamesport Country Kitchen in Jamesport. Or else Hellenic Snack Bar (Greek) in East Marion.

Skip the Lobster Roll if you don't want fried foods. Very weak menu. I like the Hellenic Snack Bar. Also, the Modern Snack Bar in Aquebogue is nice, but not fancy.

Just went to the Lobster Roll (Mom was visiting and wanted to go) we all had the lobster rolls and totally enjoyed them. The fried "puffers" (blowfish) made a nice appetizer too.

OK since I'm chiming in, let's see. Cliffs in Jamesport is good if you're in the mood for red meat. Bayview Inn (south of Main Rd at the light in Jamesport) if you want a more leisurely full meal. Just tried Roadside Pizza for the second time, aside from too much cheese (I guess most people wouldn't complain) the pizza was good, and I noticed they have a beautiful lawn area out back that borders on the river, with lots of picnic tables, quick but relaxing at the same time. That's across from Snowflake Ice Cream (the best!)and Funcho's, which has California style burritos. These last three are a few minutes south of exit 72 going toward Riverhead, just past the Post Office. There's also a fish place right there, they're OK I guess, but nasty people working there.
