Just for comparison, I sadly discovered that Dairy Queen in Northern California is *NOT* the same as DQ back home in Texas. Whenever I visit my family, I usually take the kids there once during our trip for a meal of burger or chicken strips w/ gravy & ice cream treat. Nostalgia & it really is a small town. LOL.

Growing up on Sonic, the food was good. Now, not so much.
The only food I get is Cheddar Peppers or Tots (hard to mess up) with ranch. :)

Drinks - diet cherry limeade is hard to beat! Vanilla Dr. Pepper's are great, too.

TIP - say "easy ice" otherwise you will end up with lots of it. They also sell their crushed ice which I get for parties all the time by the bag.

I agree that their drinks and desserts are the best. I like a pineapple malt myself.

For food on the rare occasion that I eat there i get either a grilled cheese sandwich or a chicken club (no lettuce or mayo) and tator tots.

Sonic is a staple in the south...unfortunately. It's burgers and dogs are the lowest quality of any chain. The chili dogs used to be good to me, but about a decade ago they went the cheaper route.

Yes, the drinks are great, the ice cream treats are good, and that's what you should stick to here. Try the cheesecake bites and make sure they provide the caramel dipping sauce. It's pretty good with cinnamon in there.

For that "old tyme" experience, try and get a Checkers or a Bumpers. Both have better quality and unique tastes. Bumpers does tend to overstock their menu with a bunch of crud, but there basic fare is ok.
