I won't give you any specific places, but general recommendations for cheap food in Germany.
1. Turkish Doener Kebab or Turkish Pizza. This is good and filling and cheap and can be found everywhere. While not German, it is still typically German.
2. Brezels (pretzels). Most bakeries sell Laugenbrezels or Laugenstange (sticks). These are cheap and filling. I particularly like the ones with seeds.
3. Wurst. Get a bratwurst or other kind of sausage from either a street vendor/grill (Imbiss) or from a butcher shop (which often grill sausages).
4. Pizza. Pizza will get you far on little money. Try tuna with onion.
5. In Berlin try a currywurst (though I've managed never to have one).
6. Drink beer rather than soda.
7. Bratkartoffeln (Fried potatoes).

depends on what exactly you were looking for. chewfun gave you some fairly extensive pointers as to which cheap eats are available in Germany, as per your question.

Few, it is difficult for me to give you exact places. It can be hard to plan on where you will be when it is meal time. I've been to Germany many, many times on a student budget. I happen to speak German and have German friends. The suggestions that I gave you will give you a very, contemporary German experience and you can apply the suggestions pretty much anywhere in Germany. Oh, and have some local beer. If there is a fest going on where you happen to be and there are big beer tents, then order the liter of beer and get some roasted chicken.
