Woodman's of Essex in Litchfield NH

Legendary Woodman's of fried clam fame has opened a branch in Litchfield of all places. Has anybody tried it yet?

  1. Where in litchfeild? I just can't imagine.....

    1. At Mel's Funpark. There is a restaurant there. http://www.woodmans.com/

      1. The Haddock and the Sea Scallops were very, very good. The fries and onion rings that came with the plate were average at best. The soda out of the self serve soda fountain were just right,

The environment is honky-tonk amusement park loud. I will never go back unless it's for take out, or they STOP PLAYING THE MUSIC SO LOUD that you can not have a civil conversation. It was too much for us and another couple from across the restaurant. We both couples , independent of each other, escaped the noisy inside to eat outside adjacent to the driving range.

Advice, get just a large or small order of seafood, no sides, and take it home.

        1. Good fried clams this weekend--not greasy at all, but a little steep at $21.95. Onion rings clearly made on site, but french fries were pedestrian. They have a full bar!

It was not crowded--maybe a reflection of the cost, but definitely worth a return visit. No issue with loud music. Bathrooms very clean.

It's in a place called Funway Park with miniature golf, laser whatever and go carts. Worth a trip for the ambience--who needs Hampton Beach?
