I have some very foodie family coming to visit and had planned to take them to DNA, but discovered it's closed Sundays. I'd like to take them somewhere special where we can count on a really nice meal. We'd like to go somewhere we haven't been before (some places we've already been are Au Pied de Cochon, Toque, Club Chasse et Peche, Au 5ieme Peche, Lemeac). I was thinking maybe Cuisine et Dependence if they're open on Sunday. Any other ideas for what's currently exciting in town?

Cuisine et Dépendence isn't open on Sundays except for special occasions, like Mother's Day.

Laloux's open on Sundays. Ditto Le Jolifou and Le Local.

Other posts suggest Laloux just lost its chefs recently ... and that the chef from Lemeac moved to Le Local. Have you been to any of these 3 since these changes?

No, but the chef at Laloux is Éric Gonzalez (formerly of Cube, XO, etc.) and the pastry chef is Michelle Marek (formerly pastry sous-chef at Les Chèvres and Laloux). (Also, note that at many places open on Sundays and Mondays, the regular chef isn't in the kitchen anyway.) And an employee there who wouldn't BS me said the kitchen's been turning out some impressive chow.

Haven't been to Le Local since the changeover. Chef Pariseau has an impressive résumé (L'Arpège, Jongleux Café, Toqué!) and his stint at Leméac would indicate he's able to handle high-volume, high-quality situations.

So, no, I'm not speaking from experience, merely throwing out ideas of places I'd consider going, especially if APDC wasn't in contention.

I was at Laloux about 2 weeks ago and it was wonderful as always. Had the chefs changed already? I certainly didn't notice!
