Hi Hounds!

My fiance and I are getting married in June 2010 in Saratoga Springs, NY, and having our reception at the National Museum of Dance. We're paying for our own wedding, so we are hoping to find a caterer who will work on a (rather limited) budget of about $60-$65pp for food and beverage. We are open to any and all options - the more creative, the better! The only stipulations are that we'd like our guests to have a full meal (rather than a cocktail or dessert reception), and we definitely do not want to make them pay for their beverages. Many of our guests will be traveling from quite a long distance away, and we'd like to be hopsitable!

Thanks for your advice!

Congratulations--and lucky you to have booked the Dance Museum. We had our youngest daughter's wedding there a few years ago. Without hesitation I recommend The Lily and the Rose, owned by Kim Klopstock. We've hired her for numerous big family events, and for a wedding she and her staff are amazing. They will work with whatever budget you have. They can also do the flowers, and do them beautifully. And they "stage manage" the whole wedding, which is a huge help. We were on a budget like you. We had open bar of just wines, beer, soda, and champagne, and wonderful cocktail hour foods, some passed and some arranged on tables. We had a sit down dinner but it was a buffet, which saves money. Oh, she'll do the cake too! And her food is glorious. No one was disappointed. The special touches were all there. Check them out at http://lilyandtherose.com/. Good luck!

BTW, we had both the wedding ceremony and the reception inside the museum, which avoided the cost of renting a tent. After the ceremony, we went into the back courtyard for the cocktail hour (happily it was good weather) and during the reception they reset the museum for the dinner.
