Vietnamese in Montco?
I'm looking for good Vietnamese restaurants in Montco. I did search the board and only came up with Vietnam Cafe in Telford. Are there any others?

The other major Vietnamese restaurant in the area is Pho Tai Nam, a combination Thai and Vietnamese restaurant in Blue Bell, in the same space as the relocated Pudge's. I have eaten there a few times, and find the Pho to be a bit toned down, and not as rich in flavor as compared to Vietnam cafe. However, if you are not as adventurous, or dining companions want something else besides Vietnamese food, the standard Thai fare on the menu may be a plus.

We like Pho Thai Nam - it's not great but it's good and the owners are very nice. Their summer rolls are great - the pho is always good, sometimes really good, never spectacular. The only think that I would say is really bad is the grilled pork for their broken rice or noodle dishes.

Vietnam Cafe in Telford in the best (though technically in Bucks County) with Saigon@Main in Lansdale a respectable second. The former has no atmosphere but everything is quite good, their Pho is excellent. The latter has better atmosphere and service but most dishes are not as flavorful as Vietnam Cafe. Sorry Kater but I say skip Pho Tai Nam completely. Their Vietnamese is way toned down (read bland) and their Thai is the same. You do much better going to separate restaurants for each cuisine IMHO.

I used to love Pho Tai Nam cwdonald but the last tofu pad thai I got there was really bland and instead of frying the tofu there were just large slices of tofu on top of the pad thai, one piece of tofu even had a blue stamp on it. I was kinda shocked. I needed my thai fix after that so I headed to Thai Nadia in lansdale for their lunch special and my friend and I were both delighted with our three course lunch. Having the leftovers for din din.

Thanks for the responses. If Telford is my best choice in the burbs I'll probably end up going into the city as it's about equal in travel time since I'm right outside of Chestnut Hill. I will try Vietnam Cafe when I'm out Telford way.

Den, if you're right outside CH it might be closer (or at least equidistant) for you to head over to Adams Avenue in the Northeast. There is a wealth of Vietnamese restaurants in a several-block range.
