speaking of capogiro's from the post on Philly foods you dream about..

I've never had their gelato but just went out to the website to take a look. I see that they have various packages of gelato flavors that they ship.

So I need to know. Is it really that good? So good that I can order some for my husband for father's day (he's a really special dad and I want to get him something completely out of the ordinary). Which mix of flavors would you recommend?

Since they send orders out on Tuesdays only, it's going to have to sit in my freezer for a few days. Does anyone see any problem with that?

  1. It's not as good as it is fresh from the shop, but it's still very good. They should be fine in the freezer for a few days as long as you don't open them. However, it should be served much warmer than freezer temperature. I've bought their pints once or twice in the past, basically you have to eat the whole pint pretty quickly because it's at its best after it's thawed out a little, and once it's at that point you really can't re-freeze it without killing the texture. So if I were you I'd open one pint, eat it till it's gone (it won't take very long!), then open the next pint.

I don't know your husband's tastes but there are three flavors on that list that I think you should order regardless: Cioccolato Scuro, Rosemary Honey Goat's Milk, and Pistachio.
