Beggar's chicken in LA?

I had this dish in Hong Kong 2 years ago....and im craving for it.

This is a chicken that is stuffed with herbs, mushrooms..etc.
then is wrapped in lotus leaves, and foil...then sealed with a mud pack.
buried under ground and cooked.....i guess like Kalua pig in hawaii.
it slow cooks overnight...so you have to pre-order it 24 hours at a restaurant.
The next day, it is served to you in a round mud shell...you are given a hammer to crack it open.
and the waitress takes out the lotus pack, and opens up the wrap.

You can just imagine how fragrant the smell is, and the meat falls off the bone. Ahhhhhh....

this was $500HK back then.....but it was soooo goood.

So, anyone knows a good place to get this? I saw it at Empress Pavillion in downtown chinatown, but was wondering if anyone has tried it here or have a better place in mind?

A good peking duck recommendation is also appreciated while im at it. :)

I ate at the "tasty duck restaurant" last weekend....i think it use to be the thousand flower restaurant before that...this was in 1029 E Valley blvd. Inside the Gold world plaza.

Man, i love Hong Kong.....cant wait to go back.

thanks in advance.

Beggar's chicken is made in an oven not in an imu like kalua pork. Making kalua pork in an imu is steaming rather than baking.
I remember having it in LA years ago (remember it coming out on a newspaper to keep all the clay pieces from making a mess). Wondering if maybe it was Empress Pavillion.
Just looked at the Empress Pavillion menu and it's $38 with advanced notice ordering.

It's been mentioned here before that Chang's Garden in Arcadia will do it for you but I don't know if that is true or not. This is one of those "arrange in advance" dishes so wherever you go you'll need to call ahead and see how much advance notice the restaurant needs to do it. I have seen it on the menu at Empress Pavillion in downtown LA. I think it was around $40, and we hadn't called ahead so didn't have a chance to try it.

If you do end up finding it please come back and report the particulars.
