Later this week we're going to see Arcadia at the Folger Theater (which is at 2d and E. Capitol I think), and I am trying to think of a nice place to go beforehand. Right now it's between Johnny's Half Shell and Bistro Bis, with maybe a slight edge to Johnny's because it seems like lighter fare for the warm weather (although I haven't been to either for a while). We'd like to be walking distance to the theater, but would it be worth the walk to go to the Source instead? Any other suggestions for places I am overlooking?

You may also want to consider Art & Soul near Union Station. Depending on what you order, you can definitely find lighter fare. Last time I was there we sampled the ahi tuna served over fried green tomatoes, a hoecake with smoked salmon, and an arugula salad w/goat cheese and blackberries...all pretty light and delicious...we especially loved the ahi tuna. An added bonus is that they have a great outdoor seating area.
I also love the Source but I think there are plenty of good restaurants in the immediate area of the theater that there's no need to venture out.

P.S...when/if you report back on your dining experience, please let me know how the show was! I've been wanting to check it out!!

I haven't been to the Source but I love Bistro Bis. The food and service have always been top notch when I've eaten there.

I also hear good things about Art and Soul. (It's on my short list).

Thanks for the suggestions. Art and Soul was booked up, so we ended up at Johnny's, which was very nice (especially since we were able to sit outside on their terrace). I had a simple but delicious main of scallops with a dijon sauce and some roasted cauliflower. The play was great-- fun and very intellectually engaging too.
