Charleston: Mia Pomordori
Has anyone tried the new pizza place next to Lana called Mia Pomodori? I find myself going back repeatedly. The owner/operators are a husband and wife team. She's from Charleston and he's from Brooklyn (and his family is from Italy). The pizza is fantastic and a good value. Ingredients are all fresh and of high quality. It's far superior to D'Allesandro's. It's in a tiny building with no place to eat inside, but there is a nice porch in the back. On Sundays, you can bring your own beer or wine, which makes for a great Sunday night dinner out.
We recently got to Mia Pomodori, and really enjoyed the pizza. We're hoping to get back to Charleston soon to try the Sicilian squares. We tried the Margherita and came back two days later for the regular NY style slices.
This is from our review at passion-4-pizza.com:
The Margherita pizza at Mia Pomodori is wonderfully balanced. No flavor dominates, and the delicious tomatoes (Mia Pomodori uses a mix of canned and fresh tomatoes), excellent fresh mozzarella (not chewy!) and earthy basil are a delight. We were somewhat disappointed with the dough...
