Tacos Michoacan Truck. Napa

Tried this truck that's parked onTrancas at the back of the Kragen Parking lot - just off of Highway 29. South side of Trancas - Take the first right and then turn left into the lot - it will put you right in front of Tacos Michoacan. Ordered the lengua soft taco ($1.50) and a taco Al Pastor - also $1.50. The lengua was OK/fine but the al pastor was excellent: well seasoned and sorta crispy. Definitely recommended.

  1. Is that where it's always parked? I'd love a good spicy pork taco or two when we come visit. AL isn't exactly known for it's tacos.

I see it there regularly when I go to Trader Joes . . . it's on my list to try. One thing I always check at trucks is if they offer "cabeza" which is brains . . . ugh . . . I avoid the places with this on the menu - sorry, I can be adventurous, but the prion thing freaks me out. And since everything seems to get chopped up on the same board . . .
I'll check it out when I get a chance to stop

"Cabeza" means head. Usually it is made with cheek meat and will be the most luxurious, gelatin-rich beefy flavor. "Sesos" is brains. So no need to be scared. I am prion-phobic myself.

I was just going to comment the same thing. My favorites are always cabeza, buche, lengua. We love Tacos Garcia - parked in the Chevron station off 29 and Salvador. I look forward to it every weekend!

KateMW - yes, that particular Tacos Michoacan truck is always parked there.

D2, I'm hoping the Napa 'hounds will keep us posted about the Tacos Garcia truck that will be operating in Yountville.

The Garcia truck has not been there (29 and Salvador) as consistently as they used to be. Really like it though when it is there. My fav. is still the truck on Soscol across from the new Westin with their fish tacos, sorry don't recall the name.

                La Esparanza ?

                1. re: PolarBear

Isn't Esparanza in sort of a parking lot off the street? The one I'm referring to is just north from there on Soscol, across from the street that leads into the Westin

Thanks Melanie . . . I have always assumed it is brains. Now I will be on the lookout for sessos:-)
